A SHORT HISTORY OF NATURISM
Naturism
is a very nice way of spending spare time, relaxing social gathering and
healthy way of living. It helps to overcome shyness and to restrain frustrations.
It helps to accept ourselves and other people, no matter how they look
like, what is the colour of their skin or their sexual orientation.
There are many naturist centres, camps or clubs all over
the world. Many of them do not demand fees to enter. There are also more
and more unofficial naturist places. People visit them to spend some time
naked and they do not think about any ideology. Most of this kind of beaches
are in Central and Western Europe.
But it was not always like it is nowadays.
First,
organized naturism appeared in Germany. It was called Freikörperkultur
(Free Body Culture), or shorter FKK. On the beginning of 20th century
people expressed necessity of more relaxing way of clothing and more free
relationships. It was the time of awakening and seeking of light in old
fashioned victorian period.
The
first naturist club was established in 1903 near Hamburg. It was called
Freilichtpark (Free-Light Park). Soon after establishing the club, Heinrich
Ungewitter published a book, titled Die Nacktheit (Nakedness). The book
was an utopia about life without clothes. It became a bestseller and it
was reprinted many times.
Naturistic movements spreaded fast, mostly in Europe.
Official start of naturism extends in August 1936, when Edward VIII, king
of England, visited Croatian island Rab. The king and his wife took "a
naked bath" in Kandarola Bay. There were a beach and a hotel for
naturists only, opened in 1934.
At
first, naturism based on very strickt ideology. Eating meat, smoking and
drinking alcohol was strongly forbidden. People also denied relation between
naturism and sexuality. This kind of fundamental groups still exist, specially
in naturistic less free countries. They are called "Christian Naturists",
"Family Naturists" and ome others. Eating meat is no more forbidden,
but they still deny sexuality and they are very declinatory to less ordinary
sexual orientated people. Their saying "Naturism has nothing to do
with sex" appears in all their publications and web pages.
More
and more people use their own brain, so this kind of severe organisations
lose their sense. Interesting fact is that less then 1% of world's naturist
population are members of regular naturist organizations. There are more
and more countries like this nowadays.
If you want to become a naturist, do not think about joining
organizations or ideologies. You have been naked under your clothes for
whole your life. You have to realize, that you were born to be free so
you can do something to make yourself comfortable, relaxed and happy.
