Research of Naturism - Liberated Nudism

Once we had an interwiew with a writer who intend to write a book about naturism. He send questionaries to naturists he found on the net. This interwiew tells a lot about our understanding of naturism. On the other hand, the authors questions says a lot about that how non-naturist people imagine our lifestyle.

A STUDY OF NATURISM

2. AT WHAT AGE DID YOU FIRST BECOME INTERESTED IN NATURISM AND WHY?
When we were around 19. We became interested because we saw others nude at a clothing optional beach in Croatia. At that time naturism was very popular there.

3. WHAT INFLUENCED YOU THE MOST IN YOUR DECISION TO BECOME A NATURIST?
We didn't make any decisions to become naturists. It happened spontaniously. We take off our swimming trunks because other people did the same.

4. WERE YOUR PARENTS OR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS NATURISTS?
My parents were not, but my husbands parents were. It means they spent some vacations at naturist places.

5. DID YOU HAVE ANY NATURIST FRIENDS BEFORE YOU BECAME A NATURIST?
No, we were pretty young when we became naturists.

8. IF YOU ARE MARRIED OR HAVE A SIGNIFICANT OTHER, IS YOUR SPOUSE OR SIGNIFICANT OTHER A PRACTICING NATURIST?
Yes.

9. DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN? IF YES, WHAT ARE THEIR AGES AND GENDER?
We have two children. Our daughter is 21 and our son 17 years old.

10. WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION?
Petya: I am a school teacher.
Nick: I am a freelancer - webmaster.

11. DO YOU PRACTICE NATURISM ALL THE TIME OR JUST FOR RECREATION?
We really don't understand this question. If you mean to ask if we are naked all the time, the answer is no. We are naked only at the places which are reserved for naturists or places where the clothing is optional. And of course, we are naked under our clothes all the time :)

12. DO YOU HAVE FRIENDS OR ASSOCIATES THAT ARE NATURISTS? HOW WOULD DOING SO ENHANCE THEIR LIFE?
Yes, of course we have some naturist friends and associates. Naturism can enhance someones tolerance to others, but it's not allways so. We think naturism is not so big deal that it should change someones life.

13. IN YOUR OPINION, WHY SHOULD ANYONE BECOME NATURIST? HOW WOULD DOING SO ENHANCE THEIR LIFE?
In our opinion anyone should become what (s)he wishes. But if someone decides to become a naturist, we think it should be a good idea. It has some positive effects like body acceptance etc. And its more healthy to swim or take a sunbath nude.

15. DO YOU ONLY LET FAMILY MEMBERS OR OTHER NATURISTS SEE YOU NUDE? EXAMPLE: IF SOMEONE CAME TO YOUR DOOR WHILE YOU WERE IN YOUR HOUSE NUDE, WOULD YOU FIRST COVER YOURSELF BEFORE ANSWERING THE DOOR OR WOULD YOU ANSWER THE DOOR NUDE, FIGURING THAT IS YOUR HOUSE AND ANY OUTSIDERS WOULD JUST HAVE TO ACCEPET YOUR LIFESTYLE AS YOU LIVE IT THEY WANTED TO ENTER YOUR HOME?
Well, that is a question! Naturists are absolutely normal people who respect common habbits, so if someone come to visit us, of course we don't open the door naked.
We think you should make a study why so many people have so strange opinions about naturism.

16. DO YOU HAVE YOU IN THE PAST, ALLOWED NUDE PHOTOS OF YOU OR YOUR FAMILY TO BE POSTED ON AND VIEWED ON NATURIST WEB SITES? EXPLAIN ANSWER.
Not so far (except on this site and some our friends sites), but we think it's not a big deal to do so. Naturist web sites are like naturist places, so if we can see others naked on a site, why should they don't see us? If somebody else visits a naturist site to see naked people that is his problem. In fact, the situation is very similar as in reality: around naturist beaches allways crowl a lot of voyeurs who try to see some naked bodies. We naturists have to reconcile that because our society is so poisoned with hypocritical morality. That kind of morality produces poor personalities like voyeurs are.
If the visitor of a naturist site is a normal person, we believe (s)he couldn't be shocked by nude photos and (s)he is welcome to get more information about the naturist lifestyle. And if someone think that is an offensive material, (s)he doesn't need to visit naturist web sites.

17. DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF OR OTHER NATURISTS EXHIBITIONISTS? EXPLAIN ANSWER.
Not at all. By our opinion is that's pretty more exhibitionistic if someone takes nice or sexy clothes or swimming trucks to attract the opposite sex. Almost every woman and many men do that.
On the other hand, every human being is a bit exhibitionist and a bit voyeur. From this point of wiew, naturism could be exhibitionistic. There is a very tight connection between an ordinary life and sex. Naturism is not an exception.
But the main purpose of naturism is to feel a total freedom.

18. DO YOU BELONG TO ANY ORGANIZED RELIGIOUS GROUP? DO THEY KNOW YOU ARE A NATURIST? DO THEY CONDONE OR FROWN ON THE NATURIST LIFESTYLE?
No, we are not religious, but we believe in some kind of universal intelligence. We do not hide that we are naturists and so far nobody frowns on our lifestyle.

21. WHAT IS YOUR COUNTRY'S PHILOSOPHY ON NATURISM?
Slovenia is a coutry with no speciall philosophy about naturism. Naturists are well accepted and here's not a big deal to see someone nude. Many people from Slovenia are naturists and there are naturist or clothing optional beaches.

22. DO YOU FEEL THAT NATURIST BELIEFS AND STANDARDS ARE DIFFERENT ON WHAT COUNTRY YOU ARE IN? EXPLAIN.
Yes. That depends on culture, religion, tradition etc.

23. IF ANTI-NUDITY LAWS WERE TO BE ABOLISHED TODAY AND EVERYONE WAS PERMITTED TO BE NUDE ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME, WOULD IT CREATE ANY SERIOUS PROBLEMS FOR TODAY'S SOCIETY? EXPLAIN ANSWER.
Maybe. We belive in that case moralists should start the war against us.

24. DO YOU THINK IT TAKES A SPECIAL PERSONALITIY TYPE TO BE OR BECOME A NATURIST? IF SO, WHAT TYPE IT IS.
Yes, of course. The condition is that the person must be naked under her (his) clothes to become or to be a naturist.

26. HOW OFTEN DO YOU GO TO NATURIST RESORTS AND/OR FUNCTIONS PER YEAR?
We go every year once or twice to a naturist resort to spend our holydays and in the summertime we often visit an open nude beach close to our home.

27. WHAT DO YOU ESTIMATE YOU SPEND ON ALL NATURIST FUNCTIONS PER YEAR?
Not more than on 'textile' functions.

29. DO YOU HAVE YOUR OWN PERSONAL WEB SITE? WHY?
Yes. We did it to promote joy of live, freedom, respect of the nature, respect of the human being and of his right to take advantage of his body as (s)he wishes.

31. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN YOUR HOME, UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN (18) DO YOU ALLOW THEM TO WIEW NATURIST WEB SITES?
Yes.

32. DO YOU ALLOW NON ADULT CHILDREN TO ATTEND NATURIST FUNCTIONS WITH YOU?
Of course. When our children were young, we were together in many naturist resorts.

34. DO YOU ALLOW YOUR CHILDREN TO SEE YOU NUDE IN YOUR HOME AND/OR AT NATURIST FUNCTIONS?
Yes.

35. DO NATURIST EVEN THINK ABOUT NUDITY WHEN THEY ARE NUDE OR SEE SOMEONE ELSE NUDE?
Sometimes they do, sometimes not. It's impossible to think about all you can see at the moment and the nudity is not an exception.

36. ARE NATURISTS REALLY VOYEURS?
No. Voyeurs are those textile people who hide around naturist places and try to see naked bodies to excite themselves. Of course, voyeurs are people with sexual problems, caused by hypocritical traditions and education.

37. DO YOU EVER FIND YOURSELF BEING EXCITED OR AROUSED AT THE SITE OF ANOTHER NUDE PERSON? (EXCLUDING PROPER LOVE MAIKNG TIMES)
Sometimes yes. Nudity can sometime be sexual impulsive.

38. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NATURISM AND MILD PORNOGRAPHY?
And what is the difference between a frog and Einstein's theory of relativity? Naturism has connections with sexuality or even erotica, but not with pornography of any kind. Pornography is for those who can't express their sexuality in real life.

At the end of this questionary we would like to say that it's impossible to find out what naturists really are and how they feel. Thousands of researches like this would not help. The only way to find out what naturism is about, is to try it. People who never try naturism can't understand it.
